Innovation brokering event + Capacity building and co-creation labs for small-scale fisheries (SSF): Region of Western Greece

Innovation brokering event:

On 03 June 2022 the Region of Western Greece (RWG) organized an Innovation Brokering Event for local and regional actors of the small-scale fisheries sector (SSF) in the auditorium of the Administrative Building of R.U. Aetoloacarnania in Mesolonghi. The event was the follow-up of the SSF Innovation Brokering Event organized in Mesolonghi on 7 March 2019 as part of the ARIEL Project cod. 278 in the same venue.

The program of the SSF event was separated in several parts. During the first part Dr. Alkistis Parpoura, Head of the Fisheries Department, Directorate of Agriculture Economics & Veterinary of the Regional Unit Aetoloacarnania gave an overview of the outcomes and results of the ARIEL project as well as an outline of the goals of ARIEL PLUS. The second part consisted of an interactive overview of the financing of innovation investment in lagoon fisheries undertaken by the tenants of local Fisheries Cooperatives, with the focus on applications in the EU Leader Program for fisheries (to be approved). This was followed by a Q&A session in which the attendees discussed suggested topics and proposed innovations on interesting and relevant topics. In the end, stakeholders were invited to register on the ARIEL Platform.

Capacity building and co-creation labs for small-scale fisheries (SSF):

On 03 June 2022 the Region of Western Greece (RWG) organized a Capacity Building & Co-creation Labs event for local and regional actors of the small-scale fisheries sector (SSF) in the auditorium of the Administrative Building of R.U. Aetoloacarnania in Mesolonghi.

The program of the SSF event was separated in several parts. In the first part Dr. Alkistis Parpoura, Head of the Fisheries Department, Directorate of Agriculture Economics & Veterinary of the Regional Unit Aetoloacarnania gave an overview of the agenda and introduced the speakers and topics. In the seminar detailed analyses were given about the bottlenecks that may occur during project implementation and how to overcome them, as well as about the opportunities for applying in the forthcoming period calls.

External expertise was provided by Ms. Marianthi Varka and Mr. Nikos Anagnopoulos of Advanced Planning & Consultancy S.A., who collaborated with the SSF stakeholders.
