03 June 2022: 2nd Capacity building and co-creation labs (Deliverable C.3.3)
On 03 June 2022 PI RERA S.D. has organized the second Capacity building and co-creation labs event that took place in Marine Bay in Kaštela, Croatia. Co-creating labs focus on key elements for translating ideas into a project concept note. This event focused on “The role of LAGs and FLAGs in the development of local communities for the period from 2021-2027.”
The lecture on the role of LAGs (Local Action Groups) and FLAGs (Fisheries Local Action Groups) in the development of local communities was held by Bojana Markotić Krstinić, general secretary of the LEADER network of Croatia, the national association of local action groups in the framework of rural development and fisheries.
Local action groups are extremely important in Europe, there are over three thousand of them and they use funds from all sources of funding, that is, all EU funds. The point is that these are local communities that have specific packages of resources and decide for themselves which projects they will support within the framework of their local development strategies. Because the local population knows best what they need and when they create their ideas, they actually create a strategy that will serve as a framework for them to realize those ideas.
Ivo Benzon and Srećko Radnić from PI RERA S.D., as well as representatives of individual FLAGs and LAGs, such as Marijana Botić Rogošić from LAG Zagora and Manuela Antičević from FLAG Škoji, participated in the workshop with their presentations. They shared some of the valuable experiences of their local action groups with the participants of the workshop. The workshop was also attended by several entrepreneurs from Kaštela, who on this occasion expressed their desire, but also hope, that an initiative to establish a LAG and FLAG will be launched in the Kaštela Bay area as well, as an important factor in the development of this local community.
A list of ideas for potential future projects was created and a task was to support the stakeholders in addressing ideas into the proper financial opportunities. The list was shared and discussed at PSC and ARIEL Knowledge network level to a first evaluation of the bankable ideas in the current and forthcoming programming period calls. The list was used as a basis for the co-creating lab: the stakeholders interested in translating ideas into proposal were accompanied in the process.
